Lain has her own conversation with the ghost when she gets home.

She finds out from other girls that a classmate who had died earlier, Chisa (the girl we saw kill herself), has been sending people emails from beyond the grave. She’s a typical anime girl: detached, isolated and quiet, but still nice enough. We then come to our plot and meet the title character, Lain. Amidst all this we get some odd tyedye-esque flashes with words on them. A couple walks down the street, some girls laugh at another girl in glasses, said girl in glasses then kills herself. It’s not as imcomprehensible as I thought it would be, but it’s still pretty bizarre.įor the first seven minutes or so we don’t even have a plot, just a seemingly random collection of mini-scenes.
